Stay ahead of the criminals...

Gmail - Adding other email addresses into the system

The key takeaway here is to NEVER use Gmail as your business address. Same goes with any FREE email service such as Yahoo!, AOL, MSN, Hotmail, etc. It's too easy for criminals to "spoof" them and trick your clients. Instead, get vanity email address and if you still want to use the Gmail system, you can import/export emails into Gmail and send/receive as your vanity email address.

Step 1: Go to your Gmail Account and click the "gear" in the upper right corner
Step 2: Click on "Settings"
Step 3: Select "Accounts and Import" from the links at the top of the page
Step 4: Go to "Send mail as:" and "Add another email account"

Key information you'll need to know from your web hosting company:
Pop or Imap incoming mail address
Pop or Imap outgoing mail address
Incoming Port number
Outgoing port number

If you don't understand these things, find a techie. It's pretty basic for an average techie.

Step 5: To receive your emails from your vanity email address, go further down the page and click on "Check mail from other accounts".
Step 6: Click on "add a mail account" and go through the steps using the information above (Pop mail address, port numbers, etc.)

In the end, when you open a new email in Gmail, you can select from more than one address to send from, and when someone emails you at you@you.com, it will automatically go to your gmail account...
